Kanchipuram: The Abode of Earth

Kanchipuram's Ekambareswarar Temple is a revered pilgrimage site, representing the Earth element in the Pancha Bhuta Sthalam. This ancient temple honors Lord Shiva as Ekambareswarar, with a Prithvi Lingam made of sand. Legend says Goddess Parvati created the lingam under a mango tree, pleasing Lord Shiva, who appeared and married her. The 3,500-year-old mango tree still stands, bearing four types of mangoes representing the four Vedas. The temple complex features stunning architecture, intricate carvings, and historical inscriptions. Thousands gather for annual festivals like Panguni Uthiram, seeking blessings and connection to the Earth element.
